Post DVD Training Uses for Doug =)
I was just sitting here wondering if anyone out there who is more influnetial than me has any idea about the new dvd for interp. training? I am very curious to order this in April, and I am wondering if there will ever be a training video specific to ASL? I know that the "practice talk" they gave in the last training session was very helpul to us, and we thought that it was an excellent talk to use to practice all of the crazy things that come up when you are interping, but there is no specific way for ASL interps. to check their work, or whatever. What do you think would be helpful in this regard?

I also have a comment or a question that is a little off topic, but How would anyone use this upcoming DVD to train others? I am planning in using it to help those who are learning here in Kzoo, but does anyone else have plans? What are your specifics? It has been pretty quiet lately, how is everyone?

I keep hearing about this "new video" but have never been able to find it. Does anyone know if it really exists and where to find it?

Post DVD?
Doug,

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this comment, but we'll see. =) The Church announced that interpreter training video almost one year ago, but I still have yet to see it. I am wondering if you have any information about this? I am looking to revamp the plan for our deaf program, and I think this would be an invaluable tool in training the interpreters, however I can never locate this mystery video. Should I contact someone? Please let me know.

Yeah, I think you should. The Translation Department quasi-promised a video and they ought to be asked about its progress. I'm not sure of an email address, but the phone number is 1-800-453-3860. Ask for the Translation Department.

I called the Translation Department and they said that they would send me some matierals. I do not know exactly what they are sending me, but I will let you know what they sent me when it arrives.

They did tell me that they didn't know about a DVD for interpreters that would be available through Distribution, but they said that it might be coming from the Curriculum Department if there is one, and that I should call Distribution and find out. I do know that I can't find it online anywhere.

The Translation Department sent me a copy of the broadcast from last year. That was it. They did say they are doing some more looking into the materials and for DVDs 1-3 for interpreter training. The Sister I talked to was VERY nice. I think that this will at least help a little bit.
